Local Farm Tour at our Farm March 6, 2010!
01-03-2010

The Northumberland Holstein Club held a Farm Tour on Saturday, March 6, 2010.  We were thrilled to be the first stop on the tour!

We were happy to be one of 3 host farms on the Northumberland Holstein Club's farm tour which took place Saturday, March 6th, 2010.  We were the first stop on the tour, at 10:30.  Visitors toured our 40 cow tie stall barn, viewed our Purebred Holstein herd, which include Prinsfields Lheros Tiffany (Excellent), as well as 5 Very Good classified cows.

Visitors also enjoyed visiting the goat barn, as the 'girls' love to have company too!  While our kidding season for the boer goats does not start for another 2 weeks yet, our son Jeremy has about 20 dairy does that have been kidding since January, so there were plenty of cute kids running around the barn for the visitors to enjoy!  Visitors also were delighted to be able to hold our youngest son's dwarf rabbits, and see the 7 babies that are now about a month old.

Reuben had farm fresh brown eggs available for purchase for $2.00 a dozen, and will continue to have lots available.  Drop in to the farm anytime to get some!

Coffee and chocolate milk and timbits were enjoyed by all!

The farm tour then went on to visit the farm of Peter and Bruce Stewart, at 11:30, at 523 Carmen Rd, Brighton, to view their compost pack barn and step-up parlour where they milk 40 cows.

Then the last stop on the tour was at Philip and Tyler Mutton's farm at 12:30. They are located at 14984 County Rd 21, Brighton.  They put a new addition onto their tie stall milking barn in 2009, where they currently milk 30 cows.

Thanks so much to everyone who came out!  The weather was perfect and we had a great day!
